What am I doing?
Before I go to university to study law, I am taking a year out and will spend 8 weeks with a Tearfund partner called GoMAD in Tanzania, and then hopefully 4 months with Latin Link in South America (the Latin Link placement is not yet confirmed). I will be doing a variety of work in each place from building projects to working with a farmers co-operative, Children's and Youth ministry (including teaching at primary schools) to helping with a women's vocational skills project. Street dramas and health education as well as sports evangelism will also be part of what I do. All the work will be centred around the local churches who understand the needs of the communities.

When am I going?
My Tearfund project in Tanzania begins on the 1st October 2013. I will be with Latin Link from March - July 2014.
How and why am I fundraising?
So that my volunteering doesn't cost Tearfund or Latin Link anything, I need to raise enough money to cover my flights and transport, accommodation, food, insurance, visas, healthcare, project materials etc. – one of the many challenges I will face over the coming year! My first fundraiser will be when I walk Hadrian’s Wall in August (a 140km/85 mile walk!). If you felt able to sponsor me, that’d be fantastic! You can donate online at:
(Please Gift Aid your donation if you are able) I will also be cooking a three course meal at St John’s, Muxton, on the 21st September. Tickets for the meal will be £10 each, look out for more details and menu choices!
How else can you support me?
Your prayers and support over the coming year will be invaluable. You can keep up to date with what I'm doing and any specific prayer requests I have on this blog.
Prayer requests:
- That my fundraising will be successful and I will meet my target
- My application for Latin Link will be successful
